Job Description :
Our client is a growing financial services company who is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team in DC.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a highly motivated and well-trained staff. Responsible for evaluating the performance of the Accounting staff on a regular basis. Resolve any employee questions or conflicts.
2. Manage accounting functions to include AP, AR, budgets, cash flow, cost management, credit and collections, financial analysis, financial reporting and record keeping, GL, investments, payroll, and taxes.
3. Implement policies and procedures for the accounting department and ensure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations and are communicated to and implemented by subordinates.
4. Responsible for general ledger reconciliation, analysis of financial accounts, preparation of journal entries, and end of month close.
5. Ensure that all activities of the department are in accordance with GAAP and that the accounting records are maintained accurately and in compliance with laws and regulations.
6. Develop and implement processes to streamline credit union accounting procedures.
7. Develop and maintain complex computer-based analyses and reports of credit union accounting records on a regular basis.
8. Monitor fixed-asset management.
9. Conduct Special accounting studies, analyses, and special projects as requested by management.
10. Responsible for auditing, verifying, and reconciling daily activity contained in the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers to assure accuracy and legitimacy of recorded transactions. Works with other staff members to resolve problems.
11. Responsible for the preparation of financial statements to include but not limited to the balance sheet and statement of income.
12. Prepares a variety of specialized financial reports on a daily, weekly, monthly quarterly or annual basis.
13. Serves as back up for all department functions.
14. Assists with all wire functions as needed.
15. Adheres to all credit union compliance requirements, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) guidelines and regulations as explained to me and as appropriate for my position.
16. Performs other accounting related duties as assigned by the CFO.
17. Provide assistance to auditors and examiners.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
5+ years' experience in an accounting capacity
Leadership experience
Strong Excel skills
