Job Description :

Our client is a growing financial services firm that spans the DC-Metro area. They're currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join their accounting team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for maintaining subsidiary ledgers on a daily basis.

 

Participant in treasury management functions of the Bank.

 

Assist in the monthly close process, including the review and analysis of results and consolidation of entities.

 

Assist with technical support on disclosure issues to ensure the appropriate application of SEC, GAAP, and federal banking rules.

 

Prepares financial statements, disclosures, and performs financial analysis for quarterly SEC filings (including Forms 10Q, 10K, and insider reporting filings).

 

Complete disclosure checklists to ensure disclosure compliance.

 

Participates in the implementation of new systems and in process improvements related to internal and external reporting.

 

Reviews, updates, and monitors departmental internal controls and attestation compliance requirements.

 

Assist in external and internal audit data collection, documentation and reviews.

 

Complete certain monthly balance sheet reconciliations; monitor daily reconciliations prepared by subordinates.

 

Manages accounts payable, maintains fixed assets, accrual processing, and is responsible for ensuring general ledger differences are resolved timely.

 

Train departmental staff as needed.

 

Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university

 

Detail-oriented with ability to focus on tasks

 

Possess strong analytical skills

 

Must have five or more years of experience in banking related industry with at least two years of SEC financial reporting experience

Ability to communicate effectively in a logical, succinct format both verbally and in writing

 

Effective planning and organizational skills

 

Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills.

 

Strong leadership skills

 

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate/ advanced skill in Excel

 

Adaptability in banking related software programs
