Financial Reporting Manager
The Financial Reporting Manager is a newly created opportunity due to organizational growth within a well known and respected business-focused regional bank headquartered in Vienna, VA area. This individual will play a vital role as a member of the corporate finance team and work in close collaboration with the company CFO as well as other finance team professionals and external stakeholders to monitor and ensure the company’s financial health and financial reporting compliance. The Financial Reporting Manager opportunity will offer a comprehensive compensation package made up of a base salary in the $140,000 to $160,000 range based on experience, an annual bonus target of 10%-12%, full suite of generous benefits, as well as a hybrid work from home/office schedule 2 to 3 days a week. Ideal candidates will have 5 or more years of professional experience including one or more years of supervising staff and experience with SEC reporting or public accounting experience with publicly traded company engagements. Financial Reporting Manager – Job Description
- Provide leadership over team responsible for overseeing the preparation and reporting of accurate and reliable financial statements and monthly reporting.
- Manage the accounting reporting team and evaluate performance to ensure a high-performing and efficient team.
- Develop and implement financial reporting policies and procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy in financial reporting processes.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including supporting SEC forms (10K, 10Q, 8K) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Review and approve all financial reports before they are released to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Communicate with external auditors during the audit process to provide necessary information and facilitate a smooth audit and SOX internal control reporting.
- Provide financial reporting training to staff to enhance their knowledge and skills and ensure a deep understanding of financial reporting principles.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in GAAP, and regulatory requirements to maintain compliance and adapt to evolving reporting standards.
- Analyze financial data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support informed decision-making by management.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the CFO, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders, providing clear and concise explanations of financial performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as operations, sales, and human resources, to gather necessary data and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Research accounting topics and prepare memos to management and the Board regarding strategic decisions and the accounting implications.
Financial Reporting Manager – Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- 1 or more years of direct staff management experience
- Certifications, such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), are highly desirable.
- Experience with SEC reporting or publicly traded client engagements
- Related industry exposure with financial services, banking, or related sectors highly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, and other relevant accounting frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work on site at company’s Vienna, VA office 2 or 3 times per week
