The successful IT Business Analyst candidate will be responsible for supporting multiple ongoing critical strategic corporate projects and initiatives.  Projects are generally technology-focused and range from commercial software to custom developed solutions.  The Business Analyst will work closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to perform requirements analysis, documentation of processes and leading project meetings to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track.  This position will report to the IT Project Manager and is based in Annapolis, MD.


·        3+ years of business analyst experience and a demonstrated understanding of processes, artifacts, and tools

·        Strong working knowledge of Excel and Visio, or similar diagramming tools

·        Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and independently prioritize tasks

·        High-level understanding in the areas of web application programming, content management systems, API, database, and system design

·        Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices

·        Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of business analysis

·        Ability to independently manage some operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between stakeholders and subject matter experts across departments

·        Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships

·        An ability to respond quickly and demonstrate excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in doing so

·        Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management

·        Experience in business process mapping or operational redesign/improvement

·        Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management, organizational skills, and an attention to detail

·        Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to all stakeholders

·        Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work

·        Knowledge and experience with financial, accounting, and legal processes highly preferred



·        Evaluate complex situations using multiple sources of information filters; validates and interprets dynamic material

·        Evaluate business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and documenting for project team

·        Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports

·        Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develops optimization strategies

·        Coordinates and manages cross-discipline team members and vendors to make sure that all parties understand the requirements, business needs, and processes for project development initiatives.

·        Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings

·        Support the product evaluation and selection processes while maintaining balance between procurement cost/benefit today and future implications and limitations

·        Develop and execute independent verification and validation test scripts and plans, as well as production-based operational acceptance testing.
