Senior Accountant – Renewable Energy Fully Remote

The Senior Accountant is a newly created and fully remote flexible position within a prominent fast-growing renewable energy investment company. This full-time opportunity will join a nationally recognized investment team and perform a variety of accounting functions as well as support finance teams and business units with financial reporting and analysis. The Senior Accountant opportunity will offer a competitive compensation package in the $125,000 to $140,000 range, excellent benefits, and strong career mobility potential within the company’s rapidly scaled growth track. This is a fully remote flexible opportunity for experienced candidates based in the eastern and central time zones. This is an unique opportunity for accounting professionals with exposure to the renewable energy sector whether direct or through public accounting to join an exciting organization led by a nationally known team of industry veterans dedicated to investing and leading in the renewable energy transition. Ideal candidates will have 3 or more years of professional experience, public accounting firm experience, and related industry experience.

Job Description - Senior Accountant

• Play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within a fast-growing renewable energy company.


• Responsible for managing accounting activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing financial insights to support the company’s growth and sustainability goals.


• Work closely with the finance team to ensure timely financial reporting, proper internal controls, and effective cash flow management in alignment with the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.


• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.


• Month-End Close: Leand and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.


• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing variance analysis and strategic financial insights.


• Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors and ensure the successful completion of annual audits by preparing required documentation and addressing inquiries.


• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax filings, renewable energy credits (RECs), and other industry-specific financial regulations.


• Cost Management: Track and analyze project costs, capital expenditures, and operational expenses to ensure alignment with company budgets and sustainability goals.


• Process Improvement: identify opportunities to improve internal accounting processes and implement best practices for financial operations.


• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and liquidity, and assist in managing banking relationships and financing for renewable energy projects.


• Project Accounting: Manage accounting for renewable energy projects, ensuring accurate recording of construction in progress, asset capitalization, and revenue recognition.

Job Requirements - Senior Accountant

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience.


• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification preferred.


• Strong understanding of GAAP and renewable energy accounting principles, industry-specific regulations. project accounting, especially within energy, construction, or large-scale infrastructure projects.


• Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with complex financial models.


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
